Find the Light
Even as time flows by
Like a river to your eye
Seize the moment, never let it lie
All the people in your life
A small tear on a desert sand
Still waters the land
Every thread in every cloth in every quilt in every bed
Without them all there would be nowhere to rest my head
See the light glow through the fog of every day in everyway
Never give up cause you’re the one that keeps me sane
The pulse of the earth
A trillion beating hearts
A rhythm to which we all subscribe
The drum we march to in our lives
But you’re…
You are like no one else
Don’t be so hard on yourself
You’re a beacon of hope, a light in the dark
On every journey you embark
Even when pressure surrounds
Breaking down everyone around
There is light within us all
To guide us if we stand tall
Feeling Lost
Am I lost?
I feel crushed
Oceans of pressure, drowning in the deep
In my dreams
I’m lost in the trees
Petrified like the memories that I keep
Trapped in a cage of my own
Bought by money I still owe
It’s not enough we have to pay
For a game we don’t want to play
You need this
While I need that
They would sell us air if it were bad
We can’t take anymore
We need to settle the score
They put their guns to our heads and tell us we should be glad
Trapped in a cage of my own
Bought by money I still owe
It’s not enough that we buy in
We need to drown while we grin
We’ve had enough we take the blame
We’ve had enough of this game
That we’re all made to play
Tied at Zero
We’ve all heard the story
Of how our friends change
They aren’t the same
Refuse to play the game
We make them feel ashamed
And we keep them chained
To what we think they are
A title and nothing more
Their station raises the bar
But they aren’t keeping score
Is there ever a special case
When someone wins the race
Didn’t know they even entered
So they get called self-centered
But friends should know more than the name
See past the barbed-wire walls of shame
They’re still the same
Don’t wanna play the game
But we keep them chained
To what we think they are
A title and nothing more
Their station raises the bar
But they aren’t keeping score
So you think that you can take
Everything as it is today
(Repeat two more times.)
So you think you can take
Everything away and make it
To what we think they are
A title and nothing more
Their station raises the bar
But they aren’t keeping score
What if we all made mistakes
We’re mortal, can’t catch no breaks
So we need to remember more than the name
No one is just those walls of shame
They are more than
What we think they are
Not just a title, they’re more
Their station isn’t a bar
And they aren’t keeping score
They are what they are
Not just a title, they’re more
Their station isn’t a bar
And they aren’t keeping score
[Solo]
Thrown to the Wolves
Clear out your lungs
The first voice that you find
They try to force us, to the rungs of
The ladder they say to climb
So we find ourselves so tightly strung
’cause we’re walking blind
So we discover, as we get older
That all we can do is grind
They’re rich and, we’re poor but
All the times we all wanted to give up
Yet we pushed each other on through
Life and lies, the greed and corruption
The unseen wolves inside too
Be you, they say
As they smooth your wrinkles out
You know it’s bullshit, but you take it
You only know how to be devout
They taught you well, though you’re in hell
You feel that you can’t tell
Everyone knows how the tale goes
Until the cracks start to show
They’re rich and, we’re poor but
All the times we all wanted to give up
Yet we pushed each other on through
Life and lies, the greed and corruption
The unseen wolves inside
If we could turn back time
Could we make everything fine?
Unify the shards in our minds?
Is there a hope that we can in our lives
See the selfish be denied?
(Repeat once more.)
Self-Doubt
Up on the stage
Lights shine bright
There’s a sudden silence
Eyes dilate
Heart accelerates
A war begins in your conscience
Feel all the stakes
Pound in your veins
Feel that you can’t do this
It’s all in your mind
Your pride
Push back and go without it
Put trust, in those, all who care about you
You must, realize, that you will criticize
Yourself, so much, no praise will be enough
Look deep, and find, the greatness that you hold inside
Prove to yourself, not anyone else
You’re great in their eyes, don’t deny that they love you
Unravel the doubt, throw it out, don’t keep it about
Light the fireworks, explode in the air, another moment of glory
Put trust, in those, all who care about you
You must, realize, that you will criticize
Yourself, so much, no praise will be enough
Look deep, and find, the greatness that you hold inside
(Repeat once more.)
Want to Fly
I want to feel the wind blow
My mane as fast as I can go
I want my dreams to come true
High altitudes chill me through
I swear that I can feel the sand
Of time flying faster than I can
So I just want to fly
Have azure fill my eyes
I shrug my shoulders
Hoping my wings will set me free
As I grow older
There’s only one thing that I want to be
Flying through the skies
It’s been so many years
Each time I try it ends in tears
I want to feel like other pegasi
Have the wind keep my face dry
And I still want to fly
Have pure azure fill my eyes
I shrug my shoulders
Hoping my wings will set me free
As I grow older
There’s only one thing that I want to be
Flying through the skies
Some day before I die
I simply want to find
A way to satisfy
What’s always on my mind
And if I cannot rise
Becuase of my wing’s size
Can I pay some price?
And just reroll the dice?
So I can have my chance to fly
I shrug my shoulders
Hoping my wings will set me free
As I grow older
There’s only one thing that I want to be
Flying through the skies
The Dragonspeaker
Restlessly I lay awake
Through mental tension and noise
With every step I take
I don’t feel I have a choice
Please come, take me
I want to see
My dreams inside my head
I want my mind to be still
Is it because the life I’ve lead
I’ve seen so many killed
Far from home…
I follow the voices I hear
Flung back over a thousand years
Can I change the flow of time
So dragons can again fill the sky
Dreams, dreams
Echoes, echoes
Whispers
Madness
I follow the voices I hear
Flung back over a thousand years
Can I change the flow of time
So dragons can again fill the sky
Hunter
All alone again. My thoughts stray.
A thousand hours inside of this room
Thousands with nothing left to decay
I’m the hero… so they assume.
I try to stoke the fire
Of my soul when I’ m alone
But I’m the adopted daughter
With nowhere left to call my home
But I am my own…
I always pursue my missions.
Revenge is the path I know
But the times in between when I’m in wait…
That’s where I drown in sorrow.
I try to stoke the fire
Of my soul when I’m alone
But I’m the adopted daughter
With nowhere left to call my home
But I am my own…
(Repeat once more.)
Ignorant Side
These are the things I no longer wish to understand.
The blood on my hands, shaking with rage at life taken away.
You know what they say? It’s part of life in this land.
I try to stand, my legs buckle despite my wish to be gone.
The crimson turns to ichor, crawling up my arms to my head.
The knowledge of the dead, the living tossed aside.
And I, inside feel innocence giving in to my dread.
The horrors unsaid. The victims of my ignorant side…
My ignorant side.
Bodies controlled by others are dying, Victims of a culture of lying
Led to the water, forced to drink, finding the poison, we find that link
Cognitive Dissonance so out of sync, shouting so loud that you can’t think
The opposing thoughts, voices and methods, they cancel out so it seems that silent instead.
The crimson turns to ichor, crawling up my arms to my head.
The knowledge of the dead, the living tossed aside.
And I, inside feel innocence giving in to my dread.
The horrors unsaid. The victims of my ignorant…
The horrors unsaid. The victims of my ignorant side…
Exhausted, what I know reaches my neck.
The air becomes thick, with the thoughts of my own
Filled with regret, regret, regret, regret, regret, regret, regret
Paralyzing my soul, I can’t forget.
My head is now red, with the blood from my hands.
Collapsed in the corner. See all that’s left
My brain soaked in death. It’s all subtle theft.
It was so much simpler then,
Back before I bore the sin.
Mislead to think I had no hand
In the things I can’t forget, I know and understand
The crimson turns to ichor, crawling up my arms to my head.
The knowledge of the dead, the living tossed aside.
And I, inside feel innocence giving in to my dread.
The horrors unsaid. The victims of my ignorant side.
The horrors unsaid. The victims of my ignorant…
The horrors unsaid. The victims of my ignorant…
The horrors unsaid. The victims of my ignorant side.
